Birds Passing In Migration -- Posted by bthache on 10-15-03 09:15

Good Morning, Group! :)

I had the pleasure yesterday of watching a pine grosbeak and a purple finch
under the feeder together. First time I've ever seen that. Normally by the
time the pines arrive, all the purples are gone. This time, I have one or
two pairs of purples still here and the female pine just showed up for the
first time yesterday morning. Seems pretty late for the purples... can't
see them staying too much longer. Then they won't be back until March.
They are one of the first splashes of spring color to show up here!

Oh, not those jet-ski things again! - research indicates personal watercraft distract breeding colonies of nesting birds more than boats - Brief Artice

If motorboats were bad for nesting birds, jet skis promise to be worse. Personal watercraft, both the stand-up and sit-down styles, disrupt breeding colonies even more than boats chugging by, says Joanna Burger of Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J. She watched common terns nesting on an i... (Read More)

British birds are nesting earlier … - Brief Article
