Birds become threat to Changbei Airport as spring approaches - Brief Article

Birds have suddenly become a threat to flight safety at the recently opened Changbei Airport in China as the weather warms up for the Spring. The winter months saw no danger posed by the seemingly sparse bird populations, but with spring approaching the airport's administration has found that flocks of perennial bird species and some migratory birds are becoming hard to ignore. The airport is apparently situated within only dozens of kilometres of the nests for several bird species, many of which are under state protection. Following the realisation of the potential hazard the aviation administration bureau, the airport and the forestry and nature protection departments in Jiangxi have joined forces to develop a solution to the problem by employing humane distraction techniques.
